BP Oil Disaster.

Currently as I write, around 200,000-400,000 gallons of oil are being released to the Gulf of Mexico per day. Since the sank of "The Deepwater Horizon", one of the biggest oil carrying and extracting boats on the oil industry, which occur on April 22th, the expulsion of oil has left over 5 million gallons of oil in the Gulf of Mexico. The boat sank due to an explosion, which killed 11 crewmembers and left the carrying boat 5,000 feat under sea level. This ship is know by the world for drilling the deepest oil well in history in September 2009.

Since the accident and spill started, there have been a lot of speculations about what can happen and what will happen once everything is over. As a lot of people had said, including United States President Barack Obama the oil will harm marine species in the Gulf of Mexico. A lot of people has stated that the first thing is to stop all the oil from coming out of the container and preventing that goes out into the Gulf of Mexico. The company that own the ship, Transocean in cooperation with British Petroleum, which ran the operation had tried various times to stop the oil from coming out, but they have fail all the times. The companies first tried to stop the leaking by placing a lot of weight in the release point, hopping to close it by pressure. As mention before, this fail. Another method that was tried was to cut the pipe by where the oil was traveling; however once their machine was deep down in the ocean they notice that a chain was stuck, so nothing occur. All of this happens in International Waters, so the government of Mexico neither the American Government had an obligation to help. Now that the oil spill is leaving reaching New Orleans, Florida and other states with waters in the Gulf of Mexico, the US Government has started to cooperate with the companies to stop the oil spill. The US Government has started the cleaning and design of a plan to stop the spill. No official statement or bereaving have been giving only that the Government pass a 62 million dollars invoice to British Petroleum’s, which they expect the company to pay. I believe that the most important thing to do right now is to stop the leaking of the oil to the ocean. That is the number one priority, then once the oil spill stops the cleaning process should start.
